Himeji Castle

The Himeji Castle is unique in Japan. It is one of three castles existing wood, it is also the largest, most beautiful and best preserved. The Himeji Castle is classified as world heritage by Unesco.
Construction of the castle began around 1346, additions took place at different times. In 1580 the current tower was built in three stages. A 4th floor was added in 1609.
The castle is located on a hill in the middle of a large park surrounded by high walls and moats.
The park is located and one can relax. Many Japanese come here to picnic with the family. 
Himeji Castle is also called the "White Heron" because of its exterior color. 
The wooden castle itself is supported by huge thick stone walls. 
From the top of the tower view over the castle walls and buildings as well as the surrounding city. 
The tiles are decorated with different designs and match each worker. 
Inside the castle includes museum pieces such as keys and weapons that have marked epochs Himeji. 
On the top floor, an altar is set up for prayer. We take off our shoes and slippers are threaded before entering the rooms of the castle, the floor is wood. 
It exits through a maze between the thick walls. The castle has 83 buildings! 
The marked trail is one way, the tour lasts three hours between 1:30 ET. The entrance fee costs 600 yen.
