Aqueduct of Gier

The aqueduct of Gier is one of the ancient aqueducts of Lyon serving the ancient city of Lugdunum. It is the longest of the four aqueducts that supplied the city with water, and that the structures are best preserved. It gets its name because it draws on sources Gier, a tributary of the Rhone. The remains of the aqueduct are subject to a classification as historical monuments since March 20, 1912.
